For a few moments, the BQE carried a second kind of traffic. Images from the roadway show a red dragon descending toward vehicles and a silver dragon moving across its path. Both passed out of the frame. The cars and the people beneath them were left with a question no traffic report can answer: why here?
The sequence is clear enough to describe the encounter. It is not enough to establish where either creature came from, what it intended, or where it went afterward. A silhouette over the highway is evidence of an event, not a biography.
Accounts circulating across the city have already attached names and motives to the two figures. The Numenal has not verified those claims. New York has a long memory of dragons, and people who came here from Vardune carry stories older than the city's present institutions. Those histories deserve to be heard carefully, without using them as a shortcut to identify what crossed the sky.
The public questions are immediate: what happened to the people on the road, what damage was left behind, and what agencies are examining the encounter? A credible account will have to separate what can be documented from what feels familiar in the footage.
For now, the safest description is also the most extraordinary one. Two dragons met above an expressway. One was red, one silver. New Yorkers saw them. The city still needs an account of what happened next.
